The evening-which offered three music acts beginning at 5:00 pm, and
capped off by Orchestra Kentucky’s motown MADNESS at 7:30-offered a
fantastic evening of music, fun and relaxation. Infusing characteristics
of the event’s past, the evening revolved around this year’s theme,
fittingly Motown. Tailored table decorations, theme apparel, and
costume fair certainly set the tone. At the end of the night, over
2,000 people attended raising over $20,000 to support the Habitat for
Humanity of Bowling Green/Warren County, thank you again!
Beyond music, the evening showcased exhibits from local artists and
provided children their own adventure as well. Partnering with the
ARTWorks organization, event goers went on a walkable art exhibit
throughout Traditions—Taking opportunities to view and experience a
number of mediums and genres from local artists. Not to be left out,
children had all access to a host of activities. Offered from 5:30
until 7:00 p.m. and set in the Boston Park area of the neighborhood,
children enjoyed face painting, inflatable bounce houses, and much more.

Established in 1989, constructing its first home in 1991, the local
chapter of Habitat for Humanity has successfully provided over 56
homes for local partner families. At it’s core, the local chapter
focuses to provide adequate shelter to local families who possess an
ability to pay for the home, willingness to partner with the organization,
and motivation to invest the necessary "sweat equity" to construct and
own the homes outright. George Mendoza, Executive Director for Habitat
for Humanity of Bowling Green/Warren County surmises the chapter’s
mission as, "Local Dollars, Local People, Local Difference."
In August of 1997, Bowling Green/Warren County Habitat for Humanity
purchased 17 Acres of land in Downtown Bowling Green. Durbin Estates,
the organization's most recent and ambitious project, will be a unique
"eco-village" offering both single and multi-family homes. The
neighborhood, a pioneering concept, will focus on "Green" building
principles, offer residents walking trails, and facilitate community
gardens. Durbin Estates promises to offer Bowling Green and Warren
County a unique residential community while also profoundly expanding
Habitat’s local mission.
